About this list

MachineTranslation.com is developed by Tomedes, a professional translation company. When a user translates text in standard mode, the text is sent to the AI model providers that produce the translation. A few other companies host the platform, measure site traffic and process payments.

The companies below may handle personal data. Each one receives only what it needs for its task.

Secure Translation

When Secure Translation is switched on, text and files are processed by a model running in Tomedes's own AWS environment. They are not sent to any of the AI model providers listed below. The only sub-processor handling Secure Translation content is Amazon Web Services, as the hosting provider.

AI model providers (standard mode)

These providers receive the text a user submits in standard mode and return a translation. They get the source text only, not account details. How each provider logs and stores data is shown on the Trust and security page. The 22 AI models on that page come from the 20 companies below, because Amazon and Google each provide two.

Hosting, analytics and business tools

These providers run the platform and the website. They may process account, usage or billing data, but not the text a user translates unless stated.

How content is protected

Training. MachineTranslation.com does not train AI models on translations, and each AI model provider is used under settings or paid plans that exclude training.
Secure Translation. Content stays in Tomedes's own AWS environment and is never sent to third-party AI model providers.
Source text only. AI model providers receive the text to translate. Names, emails and payment details stay with MachineTranslation.com.
Encryption. Traffic uses TLS 1.3. Stored content and logs are encrypted with AES-256.
Retention. Content from users without an account is deleted automatically after 6 months. For registered accounts, uploaded files are deleted after 30 days, and text stays in the account until the user deletes it. Immediate deletion from active systems is available on request; backup copies are overwritten on the normal backup cycle.
Temporary links. Translation links created by users without an account expire after 20 minutes.
Provider terms. Each provider is bound by its terms or our agreement with it, which limit its use of data to the service it provides.

The Data Processing Addendum is available to business customers on request. For healthcare customers, a Business Associate Agreement covering Secure Translation is also available under NDA.
